What your audience walks away with
- Outcome
Overcoming Adversity: Faith and Perseverance
The keynote that made him one of the most requested resilience speakers in the country. Inky tells the true story of losing a football dream in a single play, and the mindset that let him build a bigger life on the other side of it. It is honest, disarming, and it leaves every audience holding the same question in a new way: what am I still capable of, even when things do not go as planned?
Process Over Product
His core idea, and his most transferable one: stay committed to the process without being emotionally attached to the results. Inky shows teams how to keep effort, standards, and focus high when the outcome is genuinely outside their control, exactly the discipline that carried him through the loss of everything he had planned for.
Empty the Bucket
Give everything you have to the moment and to the people around you, and leave nothing in reserve. A talk on effort, standards, and the legacy you build one day at a time, from someone who learned how little is guaranteed.
Leadership, Team Culture & Mental Agility
Perseverance and mental toughness applied to teams: how groups stay committed, adaptable, and connected when things go wrong. Built for sales kickoffs, sports programs, and leadership offsites.
Gratitude & Perspective
The discipline of gratitude, from a man who says one of the most underrated blessings is leaving your house and coming home every single day. A reset on perspective for any room that has started to take the ordinary for granted.
The story
Who Inky actually is
Inky Johnson is one of the most sought-after resilience and perseverance speakers in the country, and a former University of Tennessee cornerback whose football career ended in a single moment. Born Inquoris Johnson in 1986, he grew up in a crowded household in the Kirkwood neighborhood of Atlanta, and earned a scholarship to Tennessee, where he became a starting cornerback widely projected as a high NFL draft pick.
On September 9, 2006, in a game against Air Force at Neyland Stadium, a routine fourth-quarter tackle ruptured an artery and damaged the nerves in his right shoulder. The injury required emergency, life-saving surgery, ended his football career, and left his right arm permanently paralyzed. Johnson has said the moment took his plan but not his purpose. He completed his degree in political science and a master's in sport psychology at Tennessee, and began a speaking career built not on the tragedy itself but on the mindset that carried him through it.
Today Johnson speaks to corporations, sports teams, universities, and faith and community audiences around the world, and was named to Real Leaders' Top 50 Keynote Speakers in the World. He is the author of Inky: An Amazing Story of Faith and Perseverance, hosts the podcast Serendipity With Inky Johnson, and mentors athletes and young people through his family foundation. He lives in Atlanta with his wife, Allison, and their children.
