A Champion's Mindset: Performing Under Pressure
The most decorated Olympian in history on the repeatable process behind the medals: goal-setting, relentless preparation, visualization, and the discipline to execute when the moment is biggest. Michael turns five Olympic Games of experience into a practical model a team can apply to its own high-stakes moments.
It's OK to Not Be OK: Mental Health, Resilience & Asking for Help
His most current and most requested talk. Michael tells the honest story of the depression, anxiety, and post-Olympic low behind his success, and makes a practical, credible case for normalizing help-seeking inside high-performing teams. It is candid, hopeful, and exactly the message most workplaces are trying to send but cannot deliver themselves.
Life After the Podium: Identity, Purpose & Reinvention
What happens when the thing that defined you ends? Michael speaks to rebuilding identity and finding new purpose after the peak, a theme that resonates far beyond sport with anyone navigating a major transition, a role change, or the question of what comes next.
Leadership, Teamwork & Relentless Preparation
The coaching relationships, team culture, and daily discipline behind sustained excellence across five Olympic Games. A practical look at how consistency, feedback, and preparation compound into results.
Water Safety & Giving Back: The Michael Phelps Foundation Story
How Michael turned a global platform into measurable impact, reaching more than 190,000 young people across water safety, mental wellness, and healthy, active living. A purpose-and-legacy talk for values-driven and community-minded audiences.
Michael also speaks as one of our keynote speakers on resilience, a useful second angle if that theme is closer to your event.
The story
Who Michael actually is
Michael Phelps is the most decorated Olympian of all time. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1985, he won 28 Olympic medals across five Games between 2000 and 2016, including 23 gold, both all-time records that reshaped the sport of swimming. At the 2008 Beijing Olympics he won eight gold medals at a single Games, breaking a record that had stood since 1972. What has made Phelps one of the most sought-after voices of his generation, though, is what he did after the racing stopped. Having spoken openly about depression, anxiety, ADHD, and a period of suicidal thinking that followed the 2012 Olympics, he became one of the first and most prominent athlete voices on mental health. In 2020 he executive-produced and narrated the HBO documentary The Weight of Gold, about the mental-health struggles of Olympic athletes, and he has partnered with the therapy platform Talkspace and testified before Congress on mental health. In 2008 he founded the Michael Phelps Foundation, which promotes water safety, mental wellness, and healthy, active living, and reports reaching more than 190,000 young people across all 50 states and dozens of countries through its IM Program and water-safety work, in partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and Special Olympics. He is the author of two books, Beneath the Surface and No Limits, and returned as an NBC Olympics analyst for the Paris 2024 Games. In June 2024 he testified before a U.S. House subcommittee on anti-doping and the integrity of Olympic sport. A husband and father of four sons, he continues to speak worldwide on resilience, high performance, and mental health.
